Golf Etiquette Guide

Welcome to the Course

Golf is a game built on respect, honesty, and enjoyment. Good etiquette helps everyone have a great experience on the course. Whether you're new to golf or a seasoned player, following these simple guidelines keeps play enjoyable for all members.

Think of etiquette as looking after the course, respecting fellow players, and keeping the game flowing.

 Respect Your Fellow Golfers

  • Be quiet and still when someone is hitting their shot.
  • Stand out of the player’s line of sight, and never directly behind them.
  • On the green, avoid walking across another player's putting line.
  • Always show good sportsmanship - encourage others and enjoy the round together.

A simple rule: If someone is preparing to hit, give them your full respect.

 Keep the Game Moving

A steady pace keeps the course enjoyable for everyone.

Helpful tips:

  • Play “Ready Golf” when safe to do so.
  • Limit practice swings to one or two.
  • Be ready to play when it’s your turn.
  • If you’re searching for a ball and groups are waiting, wave them through.

Good pace of play means more enjoyable rounds for everyone.

Care for the Course

Every golfer helps keep the course in great condition. Please remember to:

  • Repair pitch marks on greens (and one extra if you see it).
  • Replace or fill divots on the fairway.
  • Rake bunkers after use, leaving them smooth for the next player. Avoid unnecessary damage to greens or tee boxes.

Looking after the course ensures great playing conditions for everyone.

Safety First

Golf balls travel fast — safety is essential.

  • Never hit until the group ahead is out of range.
  • If a ball may hit someone, shout “FORE!” loudly.
  • Be aware of where others are standing before you swing.

Safety awareness protects everyone on the course.

Dress & Clubhouse Courtesy

  • Please wear neat, clean, and tidy casual attire both on the course and in the clubhouse.
  • A collared shirt with tailored shorts or trousers is appreciated.
  • Always respect fellow members, guests, and staff.

Golf is social — a friendly greeting goes a long way.

Most Importantly… Enjoy the Game

Golf etiquette isn’t about strict rules - it’s about respect, fairness, and helping everyone enjoy their round.
